Today was a whirlwind! We started the morning by meeting with a real estate agent and doing the city tour from 10:30am until 4:30pm. We saw some places that were near the Apple campus in the north, and then continued to snake our way down through downtown and near the south side. Hyde Park was adorable! We also liked SoCo (South Congress) and some areas near Barton Springs. From our research we can say, yes, you can literally get a mansion for $200k. However it will be an 80’s style house with popcorn ceilings in the north suburbs or a brand-spanking new eyesore in the south on a postage-stamp lot. The houses we were liking in the good neighborhoods were in the $500-$800k range.
This evening we went out for dinner with our friends J&E for some lively conversation and yummy dinner in the south of Austin. After we saw them off we headed over to another part of town where our friends G&M live. G & I used to work together in LA years ago. We were up ‘til 2am sipping whiskey sours from vintage glasses while pouring over photos and laughing about the good ‘old days...
