So this week X is fighting a cold. Meanwhile we're making dinner plans with a few friends, saying goodbye to the city, and packing for our road trip. Here's a map of the big trip! (Click to enlarge)
We arranged our route to dip into places we haven't been like North Carolina and Tennessee. And we *love* bluegrass music so I'm really hoping to catch a show or something in Nashville Tuesday night. Too bad the 31st Annual Uncle Dave Macon Days is 40 minutes away. Oh well, we can always watch the fireflies at dusk.
The rest is a route we've done (fortunately or unfortunately) on our various adventures in the past (a friend's wedding in Texas and SIGGRAPH trips to New Orleans & Florida) so we're just going to try and power through. Sitting in the car for ten hours a day, for five days in a row in the middle of the south, in July, is NOT my idea of a relaxing vacation. But it's the only way to get us and our car from point A to point B for a reasonable amount of money, so it is what it is. Plus we have tinted windows, a laptop full of movies, fluffy pillows, Sirius Radio, a bunch of new CDs & books, and a stockpile of dramamine.
