Why?

After 14 years of LA, the things we didn't like about living here finally wore us down and we decided to move away. Our first choice was Portland, Oregon. After months of interviewing, neither of us could secure a job. We turned our sights to the next city on the list, New York. We lined up jobs and moved at the end of March 2008.

Apparently this was a bad idea. Things were not as they seemed and New York was not a good fit. We learned some good, hard lessons about life. We moved back to LA (four months later!) because the most important things were:

- be with our friends and close to our sisters
- advance our careers in a market we understand
- enjoy a low cost of living so we can save & travel

This is what makes us happy and apparently we had to move away to get our priorities straight. We still LOVE NEW YORK! We just enjoy it more as tourists...

Saturday Fun

It's a good thing the little guy is feeling better. The rash is totally gone and he only has a few tiny bumps on his lips. So we took him to the French Bulldog meetup in Westwood Recreation Center. It was a beautiful sunny day and the park was full of soccer games, kids at the playground, new moms pushing strollers, and even another dog meetup (bulldogs!) on the other side. Our meet started at 10am with a race and little B was the FASTEST! I knew he'd totally kick butt :) people are always commenting on how fast he runs at parks. We did best out of three and he came in first by a long shot every time. Then we had a scavenger hunt - the lady who ran the event had hidden doggy squeak toys all over the park for us to find! B found this great squeaky hamburger and it turns out that was the grand prize! We were just happy to have a new squeaky toy so we gave away the additional "toy prize" to another girl who didn't find anything. It was a really fun time and we met some really great people and Frenchies.

When we got home he happily snoozed while we cleaned the garage. First order of business was to find a lost folder of important documents from our move. I used visualization to guide me to them and it totally worked! I sat down and "saw" myself finding them and felt the relief of locating them in my mind wash over me. I opened my eyes and walked right to them in the garage. I have been looking for this file since we moved in March. I am SO relieved to find it!

With that file found, I was able to relax. We set ourselves to the next task: building four metro shelves and putting all the boxes away. All in all a full day.
