We went out last night after work to look at three places in huge buildings in Tribeca/Battery Park, right on the water. We fell in love with one in a "green" building, but it was too expensive. The second one in another building was too small. But the third one was juuuuuust right! I even "oooh'd" when we walked in! Good size, good price, excellent location, 24-hour doorman, and fabulous views (right on the water and bike path). And the commute to work is PERFECT. It's either 3 *subway* stops (we are 1 block away from it on either end) or we can *Xooter/walk to work on the path which drops us off right in front on either end. So, we stayed up late filling out application forms to turn in this morning! We headed over to the apartment this morning to meet our agent, see it again, and turn in the application. I'm on a huge project at work so escaping to do this is touchy right now. But I gotta find a place!
This afternoon we were approved and our agent picked up the lease papers to bring to us to sign. It was a huge stack with sticky notes everywhere. I didn't have to sign this many papers when we bought our house, I swear. I had clients when she got here, so her & X read everything over. Then I snuck out for about 2 minutes to sign as fast as possible, grabbing my assistant to be the "witness" (he had to sign too!). Then it was back to the manic grind until 11pm. It all happened so fast, and I was eyeballs deep in clients and compositing, doing the thing I do to get a delivery out. It was nuts. It was surreal. I got home barely in time to run to the winebar next door for a celebratory toast just as they were closing. Then I went home and passed out.
*we just got Xooters!
